Born June 13, 1934 in Evansville, Indiana. Was one of nine children born into a "working class" family. Married to Janice for 50 years Extremely proud parent of two great sons! Tom has a Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University and an M.B.A. from University of Minnesota. Chris has a Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University. Military Experience |
Enlisted @ age seventeen (July 31, 1951) during the Korean war in the U.S.A.F. Served on active duty for four years. Served in NATO for three years. (January 1952 - December 1954) @ Burtonwood AFB, Warrenton, England and Chateaureux AFB, Chateaureux, France Served on inactive reserve duty for four years. Honorably Discharged on July 30, 1959 Received Certificate of Appreciation From State of Indiana "For Loyal And Faithful Service," Aug. 10, 1955. After nearly 53 years, I returned my Certificate of Appreciation to Governor Mitch Daniels' office on April 16, 2008 as a protest against this barbaric, fascist, criminal war and occupation of Iraq. My father served in the U.S. Navy during the early 1930's. My older brother enlisted @ age 16 in the Airborne. He became a career airman, serving in the USAF, until diagnosed with Leukemia and honorably discharged in 1958. My uncles, served during WWII, respectfully, overseas in The Army Air Corps, U.S. Army. One was a Career Chief Warrant Officer in the Coast Guard. My brother in law served three years as a "combat infantryman" in the Pacific war. He suffered from severe ptsd; I believe he died an early death, as a heavy smoker, as a result of his war experiences. All were honorably discharged. |

Attended Evansville College from 1955-1958. Attended I.U. School of Medicine from Sept. 1958 - Jan. 1959. Earned a B.S. in Chemistry-Zoology from Butler University in June, 1961. (Dean's List) As part of my education, I have made it a point to talk with combat veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, The Falkland Islands War, The Gulf War and the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. I have also spoken with both "Contra" and "Sandinista" soldiers who fought against one another in Nicarauga. As a member of Veterans For Peace, I made two trips to Central America. at my own expense, trying to keep the U.S. out of war there! I saw first hand the effects of The Reagan, Bush, Quayle, Burton, Lugar, Bayh III, "low intensity warfare," which I term "high intensity terrorism" against the poor peoples of Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. In Honduras and Guatemala, I saw "terror" instilled into poor people via the Honduran and Guatemalan Armies and death squads. In Nicaragua, I saw and documented the "terrorist" activities of the Reagan-Bush-Quayle-Burton "Contra freedom fighters." Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Charles Liteky had termed these "forces of Democracy" as "killers of women and children." I called them "butchers of human flesh." I am unique that I have spoken with, on at least 4 occasions, "Afghanstis;" these were Russian veterans who had served in Afghanistan War in the 1980's. These Russian kids' units were "creamed" just as some American Units in Afghanistan. The U.S. is in Afghanistan today, not to hunt and kill Osama Bin Ladin, but to build and protect the North-South oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea area through Afghanistan, Pakistan and on to the Indiana Ocean. This, with the Iraq occupation and the coming attack upon Iran are all part of THE NEW U.S. - BRITISH OIL IMPERIALISM! I am firmly convinced that as Major General Smedley Butler, USMC, Twice Recipient of The Congressional Medal of Honor, said it best. "Wars are for profit. War is a 'racket ' " "To hell with War!" The United States is not a Republic, but a plutocracy; controlled economically and militarily but a ruthless oligharcy of the ultra rich and powerful corporate and political elites of the Republican and Democratic parties. There are no bipartisan political parties. There is only The War Party! |
