These are to be the issues of George Holland, A Christian, An Eisenhower Republican, A USAF-NATO Veteran as he announces his candidacy for the Republican Nomination For The Sixth U.S. Congressional District of Indiana. Holland says, "I share the concerns of all Sixth District voters on the War And The Occupation of Iraq, Social Security and The Economy." On these citizen concerns, President Bush and Rep. Mike Pence have betrayed our trust, betrayed our Christian values and betrayed our American values. Since I first ran for political office in 1986, as a veteran and Christian, I have stressed that our great country should stay out of foreign entanglements, and go to war only when absolutely necessary. I have opposed this war because I knew Iraq did not possess any WMD and I conveyed that to Rep. Pence. At no time, despite the claims by Pres. Bush and Rep. Pence, of Iraq having WMD, was there ever a scintilla of evidence of WMD found! The U. S. is not in Iraq to promote democracy. This war is not in America's interests, but Israel's. There is no exit strategy because U.S. presence is to be permanent in order to 1) make Israel the dominant country in the Middle East and 2) to gain control of the vast oil reserves there." Citing evidence of Bush and Pence's deception, (Scott Ritter's statements, lack of WMD, Colonel Karen Kwiatowski's 'New Pentagon Papers' and the Downing Street Memo), Holland says, "With 1700 plus dead and over twelve thousand wounded and over $200 billion spent so far, America has had to pay a terrible price for Bush and Pence's deceit. As a veteran, I am proud to be the first Congressional Candidate in Indiana to call for a complete withdrawal of American troops from Iraq by the end of 2005. Also, I am calling for a halt of all U. S. aid to Israel. The ten million dollars a day, (3-5 billion per year) can be better used to improve Medicare, educate our children and provide health care for the uninsured! Because Israel possesses at least 200 thermo-nuclear warheads, a 'nuclear free zone' must be enforced in the Middle East to stop the approaching nuclear Armageddon." On Social Security, Holland stresses "There is no crisis. Social Security is healthier than ever with a $1.7 trillion surplus. Again, deceit is being used to create a 'crisis' . As a Christian, I intend to stand with Jesus and protect Social Security for widows, the disabled, the elderly, the children and the needy and speak out against Bush and Pence 'looting' the Social Security Surplus for the corporate greedy." Holland cautions Americans that,"2006 may well be the year of an economic meltdown. By the end of fiscal 2005, our national debt will be at least $8.1 trillion. By the end of 2006, President Bush will have added over two trillion dollars to our national debt. Every citizen now owes over $26,000.00 on this debt. A family of four owes over $110,000.00. My campaign will offer hope and peaceful alternatives to the Bush-Pence agenda of endless war, the destruction of Social Security, an ever increasing national debt, and financial bondage for our children and grandchildren." |
