Dear Congressman Pence: Good Morning! I am attaching an article from FINANCIAL TIMES, Feb., 28, 2006, which shows a Zogby International/LeMoyne College poll of U.S. troops in Iraq favoring withdrawal from Iraq by a huge margin. The article states: “Seventy two per cent of troops said the US should withdraw within 12 months; 29 per cent said they should pull out immediately.”----”only 23 per cent of US troops believed they should stay ’as long as needed.’ ” ----”Ninety-three per cent of US troops polled said the removal of weapons of mass destruction was not the main US mission in Iraq. Instead, 68 per cent said the mission was actually the removal of Saddam Hussein, the former Iraqi president.” The article ends with, “A separate study on Tuesday from Globespan and the Program on International Policy Attitudes found that 33 of 35 countries polled believe the war in Iraq has increased the likelihood of terrorist attacks around the world.” Last June, when I announced my candidacy to oppose you in the May Primary Election, I stated, “With 1700 plus now dead and over twelve thousand wounded and over $200 billions spent so far, America has had to pay a terrible price for Bush and Pence’s deceit. As a veteran, I am proud to be the first Congressional Candidate in Indiana to call for a complete withdrawal of American troops from Iraq by the end of 2005.” The best support all Americans can give our troops is to demand , “Bring Our Troops Home Now!” This American veteran intends to support my brothers and sisters in Iraq by making their withdrawal an issue in my campaign and debates. As the incumbent, you have the advantage of selecting when you will hold a town hall meeting or news conference. I intend to continue speaking out against your support for this war which has failed because it was based on lies, deceit and greed. As one Christian to another, I am challenging you to enter into a series of debates regarding your support for this war, which I consider to be “criminal carnage.” I am forwarding copies of this letter to media outlets, county chairmen and Indiana’s educators. I will also contact the Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion posts in the Sixth District. I will ask them to encourage you to engage in this series of debates, since neither you or they should be afraid of the truth! May I please hear from you within four days of the receipt of this letter? Thank You! George Holland, A USAF-NATO veteran, A Christian and An Eisenhower Republican. |
