On this web page, I will present an abundance of "third party" evidence to show that the Iraq Invasion and Occupation was based on lies , deceit and greed. Pitt enlightens us "The Project for The New American Century", or PNAC is a group founded in 1997 that has been agitating since its inception for a war with Iraq. PNAC was the driving force behind the drafting and passage of the Iraqi Liberation Act, a bill that painted a veneer of legality over the ultimate designs behind such a conflict. The names of every prominent PNAC member were on a letter delivered to President Clinton in 1998 which castigated him for not implementing the Act by driving troops into Bhagdad."    Pitt informs us: "WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION ARE A SMOKESCREEN." Pitt also states and documents,  "This movement, cloaked in Democracy, is in fact a PNAC- inspired push for an American global empire." Pitt also shares with us the PNAC goal of "the long overdue and internal reform and modernization of Islam." BUT, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO THE AVERAGE AMERICAN? Pitt writes "The drive behind this war is ideological in nature, a crusade to 'reform' the religion of Islam in both government and society within the Middle East." Pitt quotes PNAC member Norman Podhoretz on "regimes" to be overthrown, (by the U.S.?) in the Middle East, "that richly deserve to be overthrown and replaced, are not confined to the three singled out members of the axis of evil.   At a minimum, the axis should extend to Syria and Lebanon and Libya, as well as 'friends' of America like the Saudi royal family and Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, along with the Palestinian Authority, whether headed by Arafat or one of his henchmen." Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, in his excellent antiwar.com article, "The Surge ; Political Cover or Escalation?" reminds us: "Neocon godfather Norman Podhoretz set out the plan for Middle East conquest several years ago in Commentary magazine.  It is a plan for Muslim genocide.  In place of physical extermination of Muslims, Podhoretz advocates their destruction by deracination. Islam is to be torn out by the roots and reduced to a purely formal shell devoid of any real beliefs." The '"surge" has nothing to do with the lessening of violence .  This lessening, what little there is, is due to a more sorrid picture of violence than what has been acknlowledged. Patrick Cockburn's article , Sept. 15, 2008 in The Independent/UK tells a very realistic picture. "Iraq:  Violence is Down, But not Because of America's 'surge',". "If fewer US troops and Iraqis are being killed, it is only because the Shia community and Iran now dominate." Also, Robert Parry's "The Rising Cost of The Iraq Surge," is also equally informing and disturbing. This is a "must" read!   This article describes very explicitly what has happened in Iraq and at what costs to the Iraqi peoples! The National Defence University of The Pentagon in its April, 2008 report called the Iraq War, "a major debacle and its outcome is in doubt." It is time to begin ending this war -- not next year, not next month - but today." -Senator Hillary Clinton, July 10, 2007 Because of these statements, those who want an ending to the war and occupation of Iraq, were given false hopes!   Since the Democrats now controlled the spending,  Military Families Speak Out, (www.mfso.org) pleaded with Obama and Clinton to use their influence in having the Democrats to stop the funding for the war!  By stopping the funding, the Democrats could show they were the "peace party" and for withdrawal.  This   Democratic action would end the funding for the war & occupation thus ending the killing and suffering of MFSO loved ones!   Obama's and Hillary's reactions?  They ignored MFSO!   The Democratic controlled Congress not only ignored MFSO pleas but also our troops wanting withdrawal!    Obama, Clinton, Bayh, Hoyer and the Democrats funded this war for another year, well up into 2009, thus establishing their credentials, along with the McCain  Republicans, as THE WAR PARTY.     In this veteran's opinion, not only ignoring our troops and their families, but voting to continue funding a war and  the continued "killing" of our troops based on at least 935 lies, deceit and greed is not The American Way!  All who voted for this funding  are not supporting our troops and their families.  Do you agree or disagree?     Does God Bless America?  Why should God bless a nation which continues to send their citizen soldiers into  wars which are  illegal, immoral and against the very teachings of Christ?  Please remember, Zionist Rep. Pence ignored my three requests for a public debate on troop withdrawal in 2005. Expanding NATO! This is a problem for the European Union or the United Nations to work out.  It could become a NATO problem, if Georgia is admitted to NATO, as Germany now wants. An attack by any nation upon a NATO nation is considered an attack on all. Because the U. S. is a NATO member, any military confrontation will Russia over Georgia would involve using American Forces as the "muscle" for NATO.  This type of stupid reasoning is why the U.S. is in an "Imperial Presidency" and U.S. combat forces are in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. I was stationed in England and France, as part of NATO for three years, from Jan.1952 until Dec. 1954. I believed there was a need for our presence at that time.  However, I returned to Europe in 1985 as a tourist and after seeing the wealth and prosperity of "our allies," I saw no reason to continue funding NATO with $130 billion/ yr.  In my Congressional campaigns of 1986, 1988 and1990, I stressed that NATO and Japan should shoulder their own defence costs.  I want to remind Americans today, that European and Japanese and even Korean corporations are "buying up America" and placing more and more American workers at their "economic mercy."   Americans no longer own America; foreign investors and corporations do!   ******************************************************** "Out Damn Blot:  A Letter To Colin Powell" Ex-CIA Intelligence Agent Ray  McGovern's letter to Colin Powell establishes the fact that both Saddam Hussein's Foreign Minister, Naaji Sabri and The Chief of Iraq  Intelligence, Tahir Jalil Habbush, had been "turned" by the U.S. and were working as spies against Saddam Hussein.   Both of these officials made it very clear that Iraq had no WMD.  The point here is that Powell would have known this! The Downing Street Memo of July 23, 2002, (A copy of the original) is a document that shows the lies and deceit used by Bush and Blair to "fix the facts" to justify the war. Historically, this memo will be one of the most important papers ever. "Violence can only be concealed by a lie and the lie can only be maintained by violence."  Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Diplomat's suppressed document lays bare the lies behind Iraq war. Published: Dec. 15, 2006 by "The Independent" states: "The Government's case for going to war in Iraq has been torn apart by the publication of previously suppressed evidence that Tony Blair lied over Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction." Weapons inspector, who was "on the ground" in Iraq ?  I believe Mr. Blix, who stated "there were over 500 sites inspected."! Colonel Karen Kwiatowski, a Pentagon insider and whistle blower, tried to alert America by documenting the deceit used to justify the Iraq invasion and war with her "New Pentagon Papers." (This is a lengthy read but invaluable info) Many of the Defense Dept. names she mentions, you will recognize in Wm. River Pitt's, "Blood Money."    More recently, active duty soldiers have been speaking out against the war.  In the article, "Ft. Hood soldiers breaking the silence in the war in Iraq." Sgt. Selena Coppa has said, 'The honest truth is that if the American people knew what was going on over there, everyday, they would be raising their voices,too.  They would be saying, 'Hey, bring those guys home.' "There is a cost to this war.  This war is being paid in American blood, in my soldier's blood  and that is not O.K.'   The article also states; "Coppa blames lawmakers in Washington for filtering the facts on the war in Iraq.  She said, 'there is no real end in sight.' " "Why should we hear about body bags and death__  _  _   I mean it's not relevant.  So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?" Barbara Bush, The President's mother; commenting on the plight of the Katrina victims. To working class kid George Holland, her comment illustrates the arrogance and insensitivity of the ultra rich; America's ruling class,"the political and corporate elite, which so ruthlessly controls   the plight of ordinary citizens. Please read "The New World Order." If America is truly threatened, who has the most to lose; the wealthy or the poor? Why don't the wealthy and the politicians fight our wars?  Why are the poor and working class always the cannon fodder? Friends:  One of America's president hopefuls, Senator John McCain, was in the Middle East, along with two other   zealous Israelphiles:  Senators "Jewish Joe" Lieberman and Lindsey Graham during the week of the most Holy Christian Holiday, Easter. Their most important stop was in Israel, where they paid homage to and reasserted their allegiance to non-Christian, Likud Israel.  After all, this past year, Bush and Congress joined hands in lifting more monies from the taxpayers' wallets in order to send Israel $5 billion worth of aid each year for the next ten years. Three of the five billion is to be in military aid. McCain's visit was important to do this in light of the fact that Admiral Fallon of Central Command was forced to retire from active duty, because he (Admiral Fallon) had consistently stated he saw no reason to invade Iran. To reassure the Israeli lobby that the war drums are still beating, Senator McCain, while in Jordan, pulled out the old bromide, that Iran was training the al-Qaida terrorists being sent into Iraq.   This was done , as usual, without offering up a scintilla of evidence. Of course,Christian America's  main stream media ate it up.  However, my own hometown newspaper, the Rushville Republican, believing in true freedom of the press had recently printed an AP article, on Monday, March 17, 2008, "US military study of Iraq detainees provides insights into the motivations of foreign fighters."  There is not a single mention of (shiite) Iran providing any training or terrorists to al-Qaida.  Senator  McCain  should know this because al-Qaida members are Sunni moslems, not Shiites. As the article states; "most foreign fighters and suicide bombers  are recruited from North African countries, such as Libya and Algeria and also from Saudi Arabia."   Saudi Arabia is the home of the anti-western "wahhabi" Sunnis. As Sunnis they are dedicated to overthrowing the Shiite controlled Iraq government.  The Shiites in turn, are settling old scores against the Sunnis who, under Saddam, controlled Iraq.  Americans should realize that the Iraqi people do not support our presence in Iraq, regard the U.S. as "infidels" and want the U.S. out of Iraq!  Then these are the "insurgents" who are thrown into this mix. Updated July 22, 2008  Dear Friends:  After six years of war in Afghanistan and five years of war in Iraq,    Americans should know we are in two non winnable wars and occupations.  Sadly enough, after Speaker Pelosi admitted that the Democrats won control of Congress because the American people wanted out of Iraq; instead of setting a timetable for withdrawal, Pelosi and The Democrats show their "betrayal of trust" by refusing to stop funding for the Iraq War.   Not only did the Democrats pass another $170 billion war bill, but one with out any timetable for withdrawal. This is not only a betrayal of American voters but a betrayal also of our troops! In 2005, I wrote there was no exit strategy because our presence in Iraq was to be permanent. There were no WMD, we were there in order to control the oil and allow Israel to become the dominant country in the Middle East.  The sudden emphasis by Obama on Afghanistan is part of a grand scheme to widen the wars in the Middle East as part of the "American Empire."   Senator Bayh is The Senate Sponsor of The Iran War Resolution.  Keep in mind, Senator Bayh, was also a co- sponsor of Bush's Iraq War Resolution which was based on lies. Rep. Pence, in the house, is one of the big supporters of The Iran War Resolution.,  This resolution would authorize a Naval Blockade of Iran. This is not only illegal, but is considered an act of war! If you will take the time to read "Blood Money" by Wm. Rivers Pitt, you will understand that the invasion of Iraq was only the first step of endless war in order for the U.S. to establish a "Pax Americana." Dr. Norman D. Livergood's, "The New U.S. British Oil Imperialism" explains why we are in Iraq, and Afghanistan, but also why Iran has to be taken out! Central Asian Oil, Enron, and The Trans Afghanistan- Pakistani Pipeline documents chronologically, America's involvement in supporting the building   of The Turkmenistan - Trans Afghanistan - Pakistani -  India Pipeline. Please note there has been a gradual build up of criticism by McCain, Lieberman, Pelosi and now Obama in regards to Iran's development of nuclear weapons. Iran is not in any violation of the IAEC. What no one has spoken about is the fact that Israel possesses at least 400 nuclear warheads.   Israel is the only country in the Middle East to possess nuclear warheads. So why shouldn't Iran develop nuclear warheads also? I have opposed this war since 2002 because I knew Iraq had no WMD!   Every congressman, especially the lawyers like Bayh, Pence and Reid should have asked Bush, "Where is your evidence of WMD.  "This whole scheme has been built upon lies, deceit and greed. It was doomed to fail. McCain, Pelosi, Obama, Pence, Bayh, Lieberman and the rest should realize that the average American is not stupid and will question the government's actions. However, there are some inconvenient truths that I do not intend to let these "advocates of war" ignore. (1) There were no WMD and Bush and Congress knew that.   (2) Because this war was based on 935 lies, every American death, the wounded and the suicides are now part of the history of these wars and Bush, Obama, Pelosi and Congress  must share the responsibility. (3) Major Scott Ritter, USMC, (Ret.), the chief American Inspector on the U.N. Weapons Inspection Team made it very clear, in a two hour talk in Indianapolis, that Iraq had no WMD.   (4) The U.N. Inspection Team, headed by Hans Blix, made it very clear, that after visiting and inspecting over 550 sites, there were no WMD. This is why the U.N. would not support Bush's invasion! (5) If the U.S. had any evidence of WMD, why wasn't this evidence turned over to the U.N. Inspection Team so it could do its job?   (6) If Iraq had WMD, why wasn't there any caution in invading Iraq, as those WMD could be used against our troops? (7) Since Iraq had no WMD and Saddam Hussein has been captured and executed, why are we still in Iraq after five plus years? (8) If this war is such "A Noble Cause" why are there 330 thousand American troops suffering from PTSD and depression and 300 thousand suffering from head and brain injuries? (9) Why are there over 1,000 attempted suicides each month by our troops and veterans in  government facilities? (10)  Why has every Central Command Commander, with the exception of General Betraeus has stated there could not be any military victory in Iraq? (11) Do Americans understand that the quieting of hostilities in Iraq is not due to "the surge" as claimed by Bush and McCain, but by the fact that the neighborhoods, especially in Bhagdad, have been walled off with 10-20 ft. high concrete walls separating the Sunnis from the Shiites?  Also do Americans know that our government is paying the Sunnis not to attack our U.S. Forces?  Also that the cleric, Mutada al Sadr has ordered his militias not to attack American troops?   (12) In Feb. 2006, Financial Times published a poll of American troops in Iraq.  Troops want out If the results of this poll had been followed , all of our troops would be home now, safe and sound.  Pelosi, Obama, Bayh, Hoyer and the democrats have ignored this poll and the request of our troops to be withdrawn. (13) Iraqi War Veterans speak out also have made it clear that the troops should be withdrawn but again, Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, Bayh and the Democrats have ignored our troops.   (14) Military Families Speak Out made a passionate plea to Obama and Hillary Clinton to stop any further funding of the war, so American lives could be saved and families could be re-united!  Obama and Hillary's response. They ignored these families pleas, but went to the AIPAC Convention where Obama promised to keep Iran from developing any nuclear weapons! Obama, Pence, Bayh, Clinton and McCain all  know  The Iraq Study Group stressed that the issue of Iran and nuclear weapons be handled by the U.N. To this U.S. veteran, this shows, once again, how the Bush administration puts itself above the law, while ignoring court orders not to destroy these tapes!  Why were these tapes destroyed?  Did these tapes show a connection between the 9-11 hi-jackers -terrorists and the Saudi royal family?  Certainly, that is why they were destroyed! THIS WAR WAS NOT NECESSARY AND SHOULD NEVER HAVE OCCURRED! IRAQ WAS NO THREAT TO AMERICA AND HAD NO CONNECTION TO THE EVENTS OF 9-11!  Just as reasons for the Vietnam War were fabricated, so were the reasons for the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq.  There were no WMD!  They were a pretext for the invasion.  General Zinni, President Bush's Middle East Advisor warned Mr. Bush not to invade Iraq; of the serious consequences if he did, stressing that Mr. Bush should resolve the Israeli- Palestinian crises instead. Mr. Bush, with his usual arrogance, fired General Zinni! Cheney's boast to AIPAC; "We, (the U. S.) will never leave Iraq!"  Folks, since our troops want to come home,  isn't this is a betrayal of trust of our troops!   Now do you understand, and will you please read, "Minister Sees Need for U.S. Help in Iraq Until 2018." Common sense should have told the American people that the claims of WMD of Saddam Hussein's Iraq were lies by President Bush, Congress and the media!  But then, no one can ever accuse Americans of having common sense. I have opposed this war since 2002, (before it ever started) for manyreasons; one being, if Iraq possessed the above WMD, then why didn't the U.N. inspectors find them?  To the U.N.'s credit, there was no evidence of WMD; that is why the U.N. refused to support President Bush's & our illegal, complicit congress's invasion of Iraq! Do Americans understand that over one million Iraqis have died as a result of this war.  Friends, this is not the American  way. Please remember, in the Fall of 2002, I went to Indianapolis to hear Major Scott Ritter, (another great American patriot)  USMC (Ret.) share his experiences as the Chief American Inspector on the U.N. Weapons Inspection Team. In a two hour talk, Major Ritter stressed: (1) that the U.N. teams found no WMD. (Chief U.N. Inspector Hans Blix would later state that over 500 sites were visited and inspected.) (2) that Saddam Hussein's military forces had suffered greatly during the Gulf War and the retreat from Kuwait! (3)  Iraq's military forces had undergone daily bombardments from the American and British air forces!  ( Ritter stressed that some members of the inspection teams were sending information on Iraq's miltary capablities back to England and the U.S.. This information had nothing to do with WMD but enabled American and British air power to target Iraq's military!) (4)  made it very clear that Saddam Hussein was not a fundamentalist, had no ties to al-Qaida and no connection with the events of 9-11! (5) warned about the tribal and cultural loyalties of the different Iraqi peoples!  (Sectarian Violence) ****************************************************** My thoughts were, "How could Iraq be a threat to anyone?"  I was more convinced that Iraq had no WMD and there was no reason for Bush to order an invasion of Iraq. The reader should remember that Iraq had also undergone an 8+ year war with Iran, had been devastated by the loss of the Gulf War, twelve years of  U.N. economic sanctions, (which caused massive malnutrition and health problems) had its oil revenues controlled by the U. Former Assistant Secretary of Housing to President George Bush, Sr., Catherine Austin Fitts, wrote then National Security Advisor Condoleeza   Rice, about Rice's testimony before The National Commission On Terrorist Attacks "You are guilty of criminal gross negligence.  If you want to catch a terrorist today, you need look no further than your own mirror!" John McCain, R-Ariz., and their colleagues were wearing bulletproof vests, arrived in a convoy of armored vehicles and were protected by sharpshooters on rooftops, attack helicopters overhead and 100 heavily armed American troops on the ground." Mike Pence, (R-Ind.)  He was widely quoted in the initial accounts declaring that he had found theShoria bazaar 'like a normal outdoor market in Indiana in the summertime.' "  Pence later described one rug merchant who kept patting his heart and refused to take his money.  'His eyes, like so many others, radiated with affection and appreciation.' Pence said he was 'deeply moved' by this." Mitchell continues, "Well, a National Public Radio reporter returned and found that grateful merchant - and uncovered a quite different story.   The carpet seller, Ahmad al-Kurdi recalled for NPR: 'I didn't accept the money.  I said to myself, 'they must be guests, so I must give them a good impression of Iraqis.'  After all, we are occupied by these Americans-and they are accompanied by a lot of U.S. security.""Al-Kurdi then said that actually he favored the insurgents. 'We arenot against the resistance. We are with them.  However, he whoclaims to be with the resistance must fight the occupiers, not the Iraqipeople.  A huge number of U. S. forces came yesterday.  Why didn't they shoot at them - instead of harming us?"  "It turns out snipers did open fire at the market shortly after McCain and friends left.  Then it emerged today in press reports that 21 workers or merchants in that same market had been bound and executed north of Bhagdad. Was this a retaliatory action or just an example of a REAL "typical day" in Iraq"? Friends: This shows the deceit that politicians will use in trying to deceive you into believing the violence in Iraq has subsided.  This raises a very serious question.  Did Senator McCain's & Rep. Pence's actions cost these 21 workers their lives?  In this veteran's opinion, this type of "showboating" by these  warmongering politicians cost the taxpayers a ton of money, but also potentially endangered our troops who were ordered to provide protection for this "showboating!"   Do you support this?  I don't! Writing in Rocky Mountain News, Law Professor Paul Campos called it, "An Orwellian PR stunt."   This war was based on lies, deceit and greed, because of oil, continued 'empire building,' and the interests of Israelphile Rep.   "AIPAC Mike" Pence's apartheid Israel; that is why it has failed!
