As a 75 year old child of a working class family, I have heard a lot of promises made by politicians, which, when broken, were quickly brushed aside or never mentioned by the media or either political party. No longer should any politician, especially the President, be allowed to make campaign promises and then renege on those promises. Americans are fed up with lying politicians. President Obama made a lot of promises and statements which have been well documented. Many Americans; jobless, homeless, in the process of having their homes foreclosed, or with children in the armed services listened very closely to what Mr. Obama said and promised. Now after 13 months into his presidency; let's examine those promises taken from the internet! 1) As a fiscal conservative , I am concerned that Mr. Obama has failed to "Enforce pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) budget rules. "Obama believes that a critical step in restoring fiscal discipline is enforcing pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) budgeting rules which require new spending commitments or tax changes to be paid for by cuts to other programs or new revenue." 2) Mr. Obama's promise to the AFL-CIO and others that if he were elected President and the Democrats controlled both houses of Congress, all Americans would have national or universal health care; commonly known as "Single Payer" (The government pays the bills) or "Medicare for All" ! Mr. Obama and the Democrats have broken that promise. The Baucus Health Care bill was written to pour more and more monies into the insurance companies coffers and place a greater burden upon Americans needing health care by mandating that Americans have to buy health insurance from the insurance companies or pay a fine. If Americans without health insurance can't afford health insurance now, then how in the world can they buy insurance or pay a hefty fine! That's fascism, folks. So, has President Obama lied about his promise to provide "Medicare for All." YES! The president is a liar! 2a) This past week's public bipartisan hearing on Health Care Reform has to be one of the year's biggest attempts by Obama and his fellow Congressional bull shit artists to white wash and deceive Americans about national health care. At no time, were the words "public option" or "Single Payer" insurance ever mentioned. Reps. Wiener and Kucinich and Senator Bernie Sanders were conspicuous "no invites." These great Americans have been among the few to speak up for the American people in favor of true health care reform: National Health Care for all! Single payer! 3) During his speech to Congress and the nation on health care reform; President Obama made the following statement: "Finally, our health care system is placing an unsustainable burden on taxpayers. When health care costs grow at the rate they have, it puts greater pressure on programs like Medicare and Medicaid. If we do nothing to slow these skyrocketing costs, we will eventually be spending more on Medicare and Medicaid than every other government program combined. Put simply, our health care problem is our deficit problem. Nothing else even comes close." Friends: While there must be concerns about costs of Medicare and Medicaid to taxpayers; these programs are not the cause of our deficit problems today. Please remember Medicare is funded by an income tax already. Medicare is not insolvent! America's deficit problems are due to several major causes; a) huge tax cuts for the very rich, ( including Mr. Obama himself) have caused over half of the increase in our national debt, since George W. Bush took office; that's over three trillion in new debt. b) Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama and Congress have added a projected $ 12.4 trillion to America's national debt with the "bail out" of the banks and Wall Street. (c) The illegal and unjust wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan have added another projected $ 3 trillion. (d) the projected trillions of dollars in the "stimulus" packages! (e) the trillions of dollars lost from tax revenues due to the economic downturn. Has he done this? No! So in my opinion, he has lied! Whirpool is closing it's Evansville plant and moving 1100 jobs to Mexico! (7) President Obama also promised to re-examine NAFTA! Has he done this? No! The Obama administration and a Democratic controlled Congress have made it very clear there will be no re-negotiations on any trade pact. So! Did he lie? In my opinion, he lied! (8) Obama promised to "End income tax for seniors making less than $50,000. "Will eliminate all income taxation of seniors making less than $50,00 per year. This will eliminate taxes for 7 million seniors --saving them an average of $1,400 a year -- and will also mean that 27 million seniors will not need to file an income tax return at all." 9) All Americans will remember the anger they felt when it was learned that our tax dollars would be furnishing "bonuses" to the executives of the bailed out banks. President Obama and Speaker Pelosi appeared angry when they demanded these bonuses be returned! Are Americans to believe that President Obama, as head of the Democratic party, had no knowledge of this "deal." His outrage was feigned as he knew very well the Democratic leadership had cut this "bonus" deal with the banks! So, in my opinion, he and Speaker Pelosi both lied! 10) As a U.S. Senator, Mr. Obama promised to stop our government from spying on Americans with illegal "phone taps." Now as President, he has broken that promise; the illegal phone taps continue! So! Did President Obama lie? Yes!! 11) President Obama promised to stop the illegal "rendition" or kidnapping of terror suspects. The kidnappings continue! So! Did President Obama lie? Yes! He is a chronic liar! 12) President Obama promised to End The use of torture! "From both a moral standpoint and a practical standpoint, torture is wrong. Barack Obama will end the use of torutre without exception. He will also eliminate the practice of extreme rendition, where we out source our torture to other countries." Has he kept this promise? NO! Torture is still commonly used. So! Is President Obama a liar? Yes! 13) President Obama promised not to have any "lobbyists" in his administration. Once again! He has lied! 14) President Obama promised to close Guantanamo within one year. Has he done this? NO! 15) Obama promised "No permanent bases in Iraq!" "The U.S. will not maintain permanent bases in Iraq." Once again, President Obama has lied! 16)Obama promised "Double Funding for afterschool programs" "Will double funding for the main federal support for afterschool programs, the 21st Century Learning Centers program, to serve one million more children." Has Obama done this? No! School programs and teachers' positions are being cut instead! So, once again, he has lied! 17) "Provide the CDC $50 million in new funding to determine the most effective approaches for cancer patient care.""Will provide the CDC $50 million in new funding to determine the most effective approaches that assist not only navigation of cancer patients through diagnosis and treatment processes, but also provide easy-to-understand information on the necessary follow-up steps to ensure continued lifelong health." As usual, on promised health care issues, President Obama has failed to deliver to those who need it most! Obama and his fellow harlots in Congress have sold out the American people to the giant health care insurance companies! In closing these comments, I would like to remind all Americans that President Obama and The Democratic controlled Congress had a wonderful opportunity to help those needy American families whose homes were facing foreclosure! Senator Durbin, (D-Il) a kind and caring man had introduced a bill to allow banks and foreclosed families to come together and work out a solution to the foreclosure! What did President Obama, the former Junior U.S. Senator and colleague of Durbin do? Did he praise Senator Durbin's bill and ask Congress and all Americans to support it? Absolutely, Not! President Obama and the Democrats had a severe case of "lockjaw." Senator Durbin's bill died an early death! When Bill Moyers asked Senator Durbin why his bill failed, he made it very clear that the banks did not intend to settle any foreclosures for part payment, but rather would hold the bank bail outs for total payment of the foreclosed properties! As Senator Durbin said: "The Banks Own Congress."! This is only one of many reasons that I have no respect for President Obama and The Democrat members of Congress. During the primaries, Military Families Speak Out, made a passionate plea; "Senator Clinton And Senator Obama Use Your Leadership Now To End The War In Iraq!" MFSO asked them to take a stand on stopping any more funding for the war, because the war was killing and wounding American troops and causing hardships for these families. MFSO quotes Sen. Barack Obama, September 12, 2007, "Let me be clear; there is no military solution in Iraq , and there never was. The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq's leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not is six months or one year - now." Senator Hillary Clinton, July 10, 2007 stated, "Our message to the president is clear. It is time to begin ending this war - not next year, not next month - but today." Obama's and Hillary's responses to MFSO? They ignored MFSO! After these lofty statements, for Obama and Clinton to ignore MFSO show how hypocritical and what "warmongering" liars they are. Democrats control the spending and could refuse to fund the war; and our troops would be brought home. Both houses of Congress approved overwhelmingly a new $170 billion War Bill to fund the war through the middle of 2009 without any "withdrawal" clause. Please remember, in 2007, Senate Majority Leader Reid publicly stated, "The war in Iraq is lost!" In February 2006, Financial Times published a poll taken of American troops in Iraq, "Most Troops Want Swift U. S. Pull-Out from Iraq.Out." In that poll, 72% said the U.S. should completely withdraw within twelve months.. 23% said the U.S. should "stay as long as needed." 29% said the U.S. should "withdraw immediately." If The Democratic controlled Congress had supported our troops' wishes and demanded their withdrawal; All of our troops would be out of Iraq now and safe at home with their families! At the event, Obama reiterated that he would not rule out the use of force in disarming Iran, a position he shares with Hillary Clinton. "Earlier that month, on March 2, 2007, "Warmonger" Obama spoke at an AIPAC Policy Forum in Chicago, where he succinctly laid out his position on how he would deal with the Middle East , promising not to alter America's lopsided relationship with Israel. Bush may be on his way out, but the Republicans have built an ideological machine that transcends the loss of electoral power- because their collaborators are, as the American writer Mike Whitney put it succinctly, "bait -and-switch" Democrats, of whom Obama is the prince. Those who write of Obama that "when it comes to international affairs, he will be a huge improvement on Bush" demonstrate the same willful naivete that backed the bait-and-switch of Bill Clinton - and Tony Blair. Of Blair, wrote the late Hugo Young in 1997, 'ideology has surrendered entirely to values...there are no sacred cows [and] no fossilized limits to the ground over which the mind might range in search of a better Britain.'... "Eleven years and five wars later, at least a million people lie dead. Barack Obama is the American Blair. That he is a smooth operator and a black man is irrelevant. He is of an enduring, rampart system whose drum majors and cheer squads never see, or want to see, the consequences of 500 lb. bombs dropped unerringly on mud, stone, and straw houses." Folks, Senate Majority Leader Frist said it best in 2006, "The War in Afghanistan is lost! So why does Obama want not only to continue this criminal carnage but enlarge it? Americans should be very aware of The Iran War Resolution which is being sponsored in the Senate by the "warmongering" Zionist Senator Bayh, (D-IN) and in the house by the "warmongering" Zionist, Rep. Gary Ackerman, (D-NY) This war resolution would authorize the President to enforce a naval blockade of Iran. This blockade would not only be "illegal," but would be considered "an act of war." "Warmonger" Obama has not spoken out against this resolution since he vigorously supports it. Once again; Are the Democrats are willing to continue to send American troops to die for lies, deceit and greed for Israel and control of oil? As a U.S.A.F.-NATO veteran, I consider any politician, who has voted to continue funding the illegal war & occupation of Iraq or sponsoring The Iran War Resolution to be pyschopathic "warmongers" and just like President Bush. I intend to document their actions and words and hopefully, sometime in the future, to testify against these "warmongers" such as Obama, McCain, Lieberman, Bayh, Ackerman, Hoyer, Pelosi, Pence and others. These wars are "illegal" and can not be "won." To continue the Iraq War & Occupation, which was based on lies, deceit and greed, is not the "American Way." Keeping our troops in this perilous situation and advocating more war with Iran is not the "American Way." If Congress feels truly threatened, then who has the most to lose; Zionist, Senator Bayh and that other "chicken hawk" coward, Zionist, Rep. Pence or the average American KIA in Iraq who is 23 YOA and the family income is $30,000/yr? Bayh's income is well over $ one million per year and Pence's is well over $200,000/yr. So why aren't these "chicken hawk"cowards, Obama, Bayh, Bidin, Pelosi, Ackerman and Pence doing the fighting, dieing and killing? Americans should be outraged that The Democratic controlled Congress could not overide Bush's veto of The Health Insurance Bill for needy children, but they joined hands with the Republicans, with all of America's debt, in sending Israel five billion dollars of aid per year for the next ten years; three billion of which each year will be in military aid, an increase of $ 600 million a year; aid which will be used to attack Iran and to continue the apartheid conditions in the occupied territories. Obama, McCain and Pelosi, all recently on trips to the Middle East made it a point, while in Israel, to critisize Iran, while ignoring Israel's horrific treatment of the Palestinian peoples in the occupied territories, especially in Gaza which has been described as "the world's largest open air prison." Obama, after touring Afghanistan made the startling discovery that, after seven years of war and occupation, the situtation was "urgent"! AP writer Glen Johnson on July 15, 2008, wrote, "Obama says Afghanistan 'a war that we have to win.' " Again, George Holland would remind the reader that the Russians, after their fiasco invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, had warned President Bush against invading Afghanistan. Also, the reader should remember that then Senate Majority Leader Frist, in 2006, after visiting Afghanistan, publicly declared, "The war in Afghanistan is lost." Why after seven years, is Obama so concerned about the growing threat of al-Qaida and the Taliban in Afghanistan that this will be his top priority after ending the war in Iraq? Obama can not end the war in Iraq. Our presence and occupation are permanent! Americans must understand that! Senate Majority Leader Reid stated clearly in 2007, "The war in Iraq is lost!" Americans should realize that the U.S. is not in Afghanistan to find and kill Osama bin Laden or other "terrorists." U. S. presence in Afghanistan is to build and protect militarily "north-south" pipelines from the Caspian Sea area to carry oil through Afghanistan into and through Pakistan and onto the Indian Ocean. The Russian invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, which failed horribly, was to build and secure pipelines from Russia, into and through Afghanistan and Pakistan and onto the Indian Ocean also. This is all discussed in Dr. Norman D. Livergood's , The New US -British Oil Imoperialism. As a USAF-NATO veteran, I now understand why NATO troops, especially American and British, are the primary military forces being used in Afghanistan. This is all part of Obama's, The Clintons,' Bayh's and Pence's "The New World Order" and why Obama made it a point to go to Europe, trying to get more NATO countries to furnish troops for Afghanistan. Folks, Senator Frist said it best, "The war in Afghanistan is lost" For Obama or McCain to believe that NATO forces can prevail and "win" in this third world country has to be "psychopathic" and "delusional." There is nothing to win. As an anti-war veteran, I had the opportunity to sit down with, on at least four occasions, and ask these "afghanstis" (Russian combat veterans who had served in Afghanistan ), "What were you doing in Afghanistan?" Not a single Russian veteran could answer my question. The U.S. is not in Afghanistan to find and kill Osama bin Laden. In my opinion, Mr. bin Laden is probably dead. His image has to be kept alive so there is some excuse for our troops to be dieing and suffering. To wage war in Afghanistan against the Taliban, al-Qaida and the insurgents who will fight to keep the American Empire pipelines out of Afghanistan is sheer folly and a waste of American blood and monies. Remember the oligarchy, (the political and corporate elites) which controls America does not fight,suffer and die in these wars for the American Empire. Kids from the poor, the minorities and the working classes are the primary "cannon fodder" for these "misadventures." To continue to send these kids to die for lies, deceit and greed is criminal, fascist and barbaric. Any politician voting to continue this criminal carnage should get down on his knees and ask God's forgiveness; that includes Bayh, Obama, Clinton, Lieberman, McCain, Pelosi, Ackerman, Hoyer, Pence and all the others. Pilger mentions two important statements made by Obama, the first made to AIPAC, "Obama had already offered his genuflection, but on 4 June went further.He promised to support an "undivided Jerusalem"as Israel's capital. Not a single government on earth supports the Israeli annexation of all of Jerusalem, including the Bush regime, whcih recognizes the UN resolution designating Jerusalem as an international city." "His second statement, largely ignored, was made in MIami on 23 May. Speaking to the expatriate Cuban community - which over the years has faithfully produced terrorists, assassins and drug runners for US administrations - Obama promised to continue a 47- year crippling embargo on Cuba that has been declared illegal by the UN year after year. Again, Obama went further than Bush. He said the United States had 'lost' Latin America. He described the democratically elected governments in Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicaragua as a 'vacuum' to be filled. He raised the nonsense of Iranian influence in Latin America, and he endorsed Columbia's 'right to strike terrorists who seek safe havens across its borders'. Translated , this means the 'right' of a regime, whose president and leading politicians are ;linked to death squads, to invade its neighbours on behalf of Washington. He also endorsed the so-called Merida Initiative, which Amnesty International and others have condemned as the US bringing the 'Columbian solution' to Mexico. He did not stop there. 'We must press further south as well' he said. Not even Bush has said that. Like all serious presidential candidates, past and present, Obama is a hawk and expansionist." "Obama's difference may be that he feels an even greater need to show how tough he is. Who is this Barack Obama; he who ignores the fact that the Gulf nations want the Middle East to be declared "a nuclear free zone, " and yet that won't happen because Israel would have to give up its nuclear weapons! Who is this Barack Obama; with his arrogance and allegiance to Israel; he who ignores The Iraq Study Group that all concerns about Iran's nuclear programs be dealt with through the United Nations? Would God , Mohammed and Jesus support the killing of innocent Palestinian children, with American "fire power" as has been done by the Israeli Armed Forces?
